Individual & small group photographic & safari tours
At Tread Lightly Tours & Safaris we'll be happy to put together a safari just for you & your partner or family and friends.
Whilst Kruger National Park & Sabi Sand Private Game Reserves are on our doorstep and offer fantastic wildlife experiences you might want to consider an adventure to Zimbabwe, Botswana or Mozambique.
Kruger National Park, although vast, is easily accessible and provides a combination of affordable accommodation and such wildlife diversity it's hard to beat. There's a variety of accommodation options from; simple camping (and we'll provide all the equipment), basic thatched huts or safari tents (some en-suite) with fans & shared ablution facilities to comfortable air-conditioned, en-suite thatched chalets and guest houses. We know where & at what time of the year to go to which camps & which units or sites have the best views.
With our local knowledge we know where to look for specific animals based on habitat, vegetation and water availability for example. We also have radio communications with other safari vehicles and are able to share information about activity and sightings as it happens.
Owner, Will, has 20 years intimate knowledge of Kruger National Park & can traverse almost the entire park without need of a map - that's almost 20,000Km²!
Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve is also an hours drive from our base in the town, Nelspruit and is globally recognised as perhaps Africa's most prestigious safari destination. Not only is game viewing exceptional. In the Sabi Sand safari vehicles are permitted to drive "off road" and follow animals deep into the bush - the bush-bashing drive is an experience on it's own! Wildlife has become entirely habituated to safari vehicles and just ignore clicking camera's and snapping branches. Accommodation facilities are unrivaled, most lodges provide what one can only describe as, "gastronomic food"! Many lodges over the years been voted "Best Safari Lodge in Africa", even Sir Richard Branson has chosen to the Sabi Sand to construct 2 superb safri lodges.
Zimbabwe & Botswana should be considered prime safari destinations and they really live up to their reputation. A wildlife experience to either of the countries needs some careful planning. Timing is crucial, many reserves have limited access due to severe flooding during our rainy season and others may be a disappointing experience as wildlife moves from one area to another. Will grew up in Zimbabwe and he has some special favorites when it comes to game reserves and where to go or what to do, be prepared for part of a Zimbabwe experience to include the rawness of Mana Pools, the vastness of Lake Kariba and a soaking at Victoria Falls.
Botswana and it's jewel in the desert, the Okavango Delta is an extraordinary safari destination. You can experience a camping safari and the "real African bush" or you could spend the entire time hoping by light aircraft from one lodge to another. We like to experience a combination of both; a few nights perhaps in the delta & the rest traveling overland through the famous Moremi Reserve, Savuti (made famous for it's elephant killing lions!) and Chobe National Park, perhaps ending with a visit to Victoria Falls and a sun-downer cruise on the Zambezi River before flying out.
Mozambique boasts almost 3000kms of warm Indian Ocean paradise. It's a beach destination, snorkelling & scuba diving with sharks and giant Manta Rays, migrating Southern Right whales and the Humpbacks during June to October and of course, deep sea game fishing - there's lot more too. There are some quite extraordinary lodges' and retreats which are quite easily combined with a safari experience in South Africa's Kruger National Park or Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
We've been there, we know where and when to go.
Give us some dates, how many of you are likely to travel and an indication of the "type" of trip you're looking for and we'll put together an itinerary for you to contemplate.
