Kruger National Park
Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve
other famous wild areas in southern Africa
Individual & small group photographic & safari tours
Safaris commence at Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International) on Fridays at 11:00AM.
Our meet & greet point is located at the airport in the foyer of the Intercontinental Hotel, directly opposite departures & arrivals.
Normally it is Will (owner - Tread Lightly Tours & Safaris) who meets you in the foyer where he'll escort you to the transfer vehicle. We leave the airport and head East to the Province of Mpumalanga and the Kruger National Park.
Our journey is a 3-4hour pleasant scenic drive. Arriving at the small town of White River we take a short break and swap our transport for an open game viewing safari vehicle before continuing a further 20-30 minutes to Kruger National Park.
On entering the Kruger we'll take a slow meandering game drive (time permitting) to our overnight accommodation at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp.
We'll spend the following 5 nights in Kruger National Park utilising a variety of rest camps.
Every day is entirely flexible, we're in the bush to seek out photographic opportunities so if we're on a great sighting then we're in no hurry to leave! We will however always be waiting at first light for staff to open the exit gate and set us on our way.
Our accommodation in Kruger National Park is in comfortable national park, clean, en-suite, air-conditioned thatched chalets. Chalets normally have a small veranda area, ceiling fans, mosquito netting over windows, table and chairs and a fridge. They are basic but more than acceptable.
During the Kruger part of your photographic safari I have NOT included breakfast or lunch. There is good reason. Unlike fixed schedule tours, our trips let the day's game viewing dictate when we have our meals, I didn't want to include these meals as it's very likely we'll miss them due to game viewing. I will however be providing tea/coffee and biscuits/cookies first thing in the morning to get us on our way and in addition, I'll be providing small snack packs to tide you over until we reach a rest camp.
Tread Lightly provides iced, bottled water throughout the trip and evening meals at each rest camp. We utilise independent restaurants located at each rest camp where you can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes. To enable flexibility, breakfast & lunch is for your own account & is dependant on our daily sightings.
Rest camps also have shops offering a range of food items, from nuts, crisps and chocolate to tasty fresh mixed fruit & salad tubs.
Our last 2 nights - 3 days are spent in 5 Star luxury in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve which is adjacent to Kruger - it's a short drive on exit from Kruger. Subject to availability, our preferred lodge is
Leopard Hill Private Game Lodge. Your stay here is fully inclusive of all meals (early morning snacks/breakfast/Lunch/High-Tea/Afternoon sun-downers and supper - the food is spectacular!)
You will enjoy 2 game drives a day, again, exclusive to just 3 guests. Close-up game viewing opportunities are exceptional.
These safaris end on Saturday after the morning game drive & breakfast. We transfer by road back to Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International) arriving approximately at 15:00hrs.
